MOMtra of the Day

Happy Friday to ya, beautiful poopies! Short and sweet and Momtra today, though no less powerful in my opinion, and I drew my inspiration from a very unexpected place. I had the privilege last night to watch the new HBO documentary on the legendary George Harrison. I don’t know about your households, but in ours, because Poopie Daddy is a musician, we have definitely had our share of thorough debates over who is the best Beatle. Many people emphatically defend Sir Paul as numero uno and just as many people believe his songwriting collaborator, John Lennon, reigns supreme. However, after learning so much about George last night and from all the things my husband has told me from reading various biographies, I think he just might be the most interesting and complicated one, and without a doubt, the most spiritual (poor Ringo, he barely ever gets a shout out!)

Even though Lennon/McCartney are credited with writing it, I think George just may have understood its meaning more than anyone else, as he was always on an inner-journey trying reconcile the internal, spiritual world with the physical, material world. No doubt, he connected deeply to the following lyrics:

“There’s nothing you can know that isn’t known,
Nothing you can see that isn’t shown,
Nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be.
It’s easy.
All you need is love. All you need is love.
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.”

You all know the melody to the lyrics above, you’ve heard it a million times, but did you ever stop to think about how profoundly true it is? Where would we all be in our lives without love? Would anything else even matter if we didn’t have it? Love is as vital to our human existence as oxygen, and yet we so often forget to be grateful for the love in our lives – both the giving of it and the receiving. My suggestion to you is to hum it aloud and sing it to yourself throughout the weekend. Repeat it over and over: all you need is love, love is all you need. Let it play in your head until its message gets embedded into your heart. Then, perhaps the next time you think you need something that might not really matter, recall the Momtra and remember how lucky you are to have so much love. Just like the song says, “it’s easy.”

And with that, I just want to tell all you lovely poopies out there reading this on your phones and laptops that I love you! You inspire me and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my voice with you via this blog. Have a wonderful weekend!

share the poopie love
